During the 1990s and early 2000s an increase in the number of migrants arriving to Ar- gentina from several sub-Saharan countries. In this context, at the end of 2010 we deci- ded to start a research -even in course- on this subject, based on sociocultural anthro- pology, focusing on the everyday experien- ces of young Africans who are living in the city of Rosario, on the possible configuration and resignification of their own identity due to their new status as migrants. We also investigate public policies, which are deve- loped and implemented by both the local go- vernment and the national State concerning migration issues. In this article we are going to characterize some aspects of the ongoing research focu- sing specifically on the possible causes and motivations of this migratory movement, in the daily practices of young Africans in Ro- sario and modes of organization and solida- rity networks they are establishing in their new destination.
