Social studies of sport –and football in particular– have developed relatively late within the Argentine academic field, with processes of institutionalization only consolidating toward the end of the 1990s. In Córdoba, this development is even more recent: the production is fragmented, circulates poorly, and there are few spaces for exchange among researchers from different disciplines. In this context, the Interdisciplinary Seminar organized by CIFFyH, “Does the ball not get stained? Sport and dictatorship, research for a dialogue of knowledges”, promoted a space to make visible a heterogeneous constellation of perspectives which, from sociology, history, psychology, education, and international relations, are producing locally grounded knowledge on the sporting phenomenon. This article brings together the contributions of Franco Balaguer, Adrián Tuninetti, María Ayelén Ceballos, Mariano Pussetto, Rocío Larrechea Calderón, and Franco Reyna, situating their presentations within a collective reading that allows common theoretical and methodological problems to be identified: the pedagogization of sport and processes of subjectivation; the social history of clubs and cultural heritage; masculinities and educational regimes; affectivity and institutional intervention; sports diplomacy and contemporary geopolitics. By systematizing these approaches, we seek to outline a possible agenda for the consolidation of the field of social studies of sport in Córdoba, emphasizing the academic and political relevance of producing situated knowledge on one of the most widespread cultural phenomena of the region.
