In this work, a non linear control strategy for a DC-DC buck converter which feeds a constant power load is developed. Due to the non-linearity that the constant power load introduces in the mathematical model of the converter, many linear control strategies might be unable to stabilize the closed loop system or their behavior might be affected. Because of this, a controller designed using the input-state feedback linearization technique is proposed. Firstly, the mathematical model of the buck converter is developed and the effect of the constant power load over it is shown. Later, the input-state feedback linearization technique is explained and the controller is developed using such technique. Finally, the performance of the controller is verified using Simulink. The simulations show that the controller is able to regulate the output voltage of the converter without steady-state error. On top of that, the controller is robust against parametric variations, change of load and input voltage.
