Gritos visibles: Imágenes y palabras en los periódicos de oposición durante el segundo gobierno de Rosas (1839-1842)

Abstract

El Grito Arjentino (1839) y Muera Rosas! (1841-1842) son fuentes conocidasy han sido relevadas por la historiografía argentina. Se proponevolver sobre ellas, bajo la hipótesis de que aportan informacionessignificativas sobre la cultura impresa y la cultura visual del momentorosista. Dirigidas a un público popular y rural, pero evidentementetambién destinadas a una circulación urbana y letrada, podríanayudar a conocer mejor, por un lado, la articulación de palabras eimágenes en este tipo de publicaciones y, por otro lado, las formaspopulares de interpretación, apropiación y consumo de tales textos.En primer lugar, se examinan los antecedentes que permitieron laemergencia de la imagen satírica en la prensa local. En segundo lugar,se describen y analizan las principales estrategias que desplieganestas publicaciones en términos discursivos, visuales y materiales.

Montevidean journals El Grito Arjentino (1839) y Muera Rosas! (1841-1842) are well known and have been surveyed by Argentine historiography. We come back on them here, under the hypothesis that they provide significant information on print and visual culture during the momento rosista. They were written for a popular and rural public, but its scope and distribution obviously pointed to an urban and lettered audience too. These journals could help, on the one hand, to know better the articulation between printed words and images, and on the other, the popular ways of interpretation, appropriation and consumes of verbal and iconic texts. Firstly, we consider the background that allow the satirical image’s emergence in local press. Secondly, we describe and analize the main visual, discursive and material strategies that these publications deploy.
