Considering the theories of landscape perception we discussed preferences of the Iguazú National Park’s attributes applying 743 surveys to tourists and residents interviewed at the park (perception in situ) and photographs observers interviewed in other places (virtual perception). The different groups of respondents were classified using a classification method and their multiple responses were analyzed using a χ2 test. Grandiosity, beauty and nature, were attributes mentioned by all groups, while the preference for water, the sound and the horizon was dependent on the observation mode (p <0.05). Furthermore, the water preference was dependent on being a tourist interviewed in situ. For residents, the familiarity to the landscape influenced the sound and tranquility perceptions in coincidence with photographs` observers who have previously visited the Park.
