Sobre una biología llamada sintética. Entre la ciencia y el arte, entre la técnica y la epistemología

Abstract

El artículo pretende echar luz sobre algunas transformaciones que se han producido en los últimos años en la relación entre ciencia, técnica y arte y que tienen importantes consecuencias epistemológicas. El caso general a partir del cual se observan estos cambios es el surgimiento de una disciplina que se presenta como nueva en el campo de la biología molecular: la biología sintética. Dentro de ella, seleccionamos una experiencia de trabajo transdisciplinario, en el que se incluyen desarrollos de biología sintética, en la que participamos en el ámbito de la Universidad de Buenos Aires; este sería el caso particular que refiere al caso general. Finalmente, se sugiere que este tipo de transformaciones obliga a repensar las categorías de vida, técnica y cultura y sus consecuencias para el área de estudios sobre la biopolítica, con la ayuda de algunos conceptos del filósofo francés Gilbert Simondon

The article tries to shed light on some transformations produced in the last years in the relationship between science, technics and art, with important consequences in epistemology. The general case from which these changes are observed is the emergence of a discipline presented as new in the field of the molecular biology: synthetic biology. Inside this area, we selected an experience of transdisciplinary work, including developments of synthetic biology, in which we take part in the University of Buenos Aires; this is the particular case inside the general one. Finally, the article suggests that this kind of transformations obliges to rethink the categories of life, technics and culture and their consequences for the big field of studies on biopolitics, with the help of some concepts taken from the French philosopher Gilbert Simondon.
