Cuerpos, fronteras y disciplina en el teatro argentino de fines del siglo XIX: Juan Moreira y Martín Fierro

Abstract

Con el objeto de contribuir a la profundización y ampliación de las ciencias teatrales, en esta investigación me propongo investigar de manera sistemática y metodológicamente actualizada, la poética textual de la «Gauchesca rioplatense» a partir de la relación frontera, cuerpo, legalidad e ilegalidad que evidencia este teatro y muestra un contexto histórico y social específico: la formación del Estado argentino. Creo que el estudio de nuestro pasado teatral nos permitirá comprender tanto el modo en el cual se han tramado las relaciones entre teatro e historia como su devenir presente. Por tal motivo, en el presente artículo analizaré dos de las obras más importantes de este periodo: Martín Fierro de Elías Regules y Juan Moreira de José Podestá.

With the purpose of contributing to the deepening and widening of the theatrical sciences, my goal in this research is to investigate in a systematic and methodologically updated way, the textual poetic of what is called «gauchesca rioplatense» –the theatrical production relative to the south American cowboy in the Río de la Plata area-, starting from the relation between concepts as border, body, lawfulness, unlawfulness, that are evidently present in this type of plays and show a specific historic and social context: the formation of the Argentinian Nation. I believe that the study of our theatrical past will lead us to understand not only the way in which the relations between drama and history were built, but also its future evolution. For that, in the present article I will analyze two impotents plays from this period: Martín Fierro of Elías Regules and Juan Moreira of Eduardo Gutiérrez y José Podestá.
