Iglesia y educación en la Argentina durante la segunda mitad del siglo XX

Abstract

Este artículo está basado principalmente, en el análisis de los editoriales del periódico Consudec escritos desde 1963 hasta 2008 por sus sucesivos directores. Pretendemos mostrar que existió a lo largo de la segunda mitad del siglo XX, un grupo de intelectuales laicos especialistas en educación, que actuaron en representación de los intereses de la jerarquía eclesiástica, ocupando altos cargos dentro de la cartera educativa. Por otra parte, veremos que en distintas provincias, el tema de la enseñanza religiosa se presentaba más variado y complejo de lo que suele suponer el relato nacional. Por último, plantearemos que si bien estos intelectuales hicieron todo lo posible para detener la derogación de la Ley Federal (1993), su poder de influencia comenzó a disminuir notablemente hacia el comienzo del nuevo siglo y no pudieron evitar la sanción de una nueva Ley de Educación en 2006.

This article is based mainly on the analysis of the editorial of the newspaper Consudec posted from 1963 to 2008 by its successive Directors. We intend to show that it existed throughout the second half of the 20th century, a group of intellectuals specialists in education, which acted on behalf of the interests of the Church hierarchy, occupying senior positions within the education portfolio. On the other hand, we will see that in different provinces, the subject of religious education was more varied and complex than often assumed the national narrative. Finally, we consider that although these intellectuals did their best to stop the repeal of the Federal law (1993), his power of influence began to decline noticeably towards the beginning of the new century and could not prevent the passage of a new Education Act in 2006.
