Resumen
In this paper a software tool, which was called a Model Partitioning for Simulation and Optimization (MP4SO), is presented. It carries out the partitioning and solving of industrial-process models to be employed for simulation and optimization. It integrates GAMS' computational functionalities with the matrix-decomposition capabilities of the Direct Method. MP4SO was tested for the simulation and optimization of several industrial cases. The results show the advantages of using this partitioning-model approach in Process-Systems Engineering. © 2009 Elsevier BV. All rights reserved.
