A distinctive characteristic of the Galician community in Argentina is its organization around micro-territorial mutualaid associations. These kind of institutions proliferated in the country during the first third of the 20th century. Besides the wellknown case of Buenos Aires, these Galician micro-territorial associations were also present in the neighboring county of Avellaneda. This paper provides a first approach to forms of sociability in this municipality. In order to establish some of their distinctive characteristics, I have analyzed the documentation produced by the mutual-aid associations, as well as local newspapers –including those produced by Galician community in Argentina - and official documents such as marriage certificates. This documentation has also served to established similarities and differences with similar contemporary institutions.
