Cocinar y comer en la Córdoba (Argentina) del siglo XIX: Una lectura de la cultura material doméstica

Abstract

En este artículo partimos de una concepción amplia de cultura material según la cual objetos y sujetos están indisolublemente ligados. Abordamos los objetos y espacios de la vivienda, protagonistas en la experiencia cotidiana de la comida en la ciudad de Córdoba (Argentina) del siglo XIX. Para ello seleccionamos un conjunto de inventarios postmortem cuyos datos sistematizamos, cuantificamos y contextualizamos. Así construimos una imagen de la cultura material doméstica que analizamos triangulado información con literatura de viajes. A lo largo del período abordado los objetos implicados en la preparación e ingesta de los alimentos experimentaron algunos cambios que se tradujeron en transformaciones en las prácticas cotidianas

In this article we start from a broad conception of material culture according to which objects and subjects are inextricably linked. We study the objects and spaces of the house, main character in the daily experience of food in the city of Córdoba (Argentina) of the nineteenth century. We select a set of postmortem inventories that we systematize, quantify and contextualize. Thus we construct an image of domestic material culture that we complement by analyzing travel literature. Throughout the period covered the objects involved in the preparation of food and eating experienced some changes that translated into changes in daily practices
