Sergey Prokofiev en la Unión Soviética: Una revisión historiográfica y musicológica

Abstract

La historiografía dedicada a Sergey Prokofiev tendió a considerarlo como un dócil compositor que durante su carrera soviética rindió culto al régimen estalinista, cercenando así su libertad creativa. Los actuales estudios han revertido sustancialmente esta imagen y han profundizado la interpretación de su obra, sobre todo a partir del acceso a fuentes antes restringidas. Sin embargo, estos análisis tendieron a centrarse más en los rasgos artísticos que personales sin hacer hincapié en los notables vínculos que Prokofiev estableció a través de su música con los diferentes planos de la vida social. Este artículo tiene como objetivo hacer un balance crítico de los estudios dedicados al compositor para luego exponer una serie hipótesis de trabajo que permitan seguir revisando la imagen de Prokofiev y, así, la de la sociedad soviética bajo Stalin.

The studies about Sergey Prokofiev tended to regard him as a docile composer who, during his soviet career, worshiped the Stalinist regime and limited in this way his creative freedom. Current studies have substantially reversed this image and have deepened the interpretation of his work, especially since access to previously inaccessible sources. However, this type of analysis tended to focus more on personal features than artistic ones without stressing the remarkable links that Prokofiev established through his music with different levels of social life. This article aims to make a critical assessment of the studies dedicated to the the composer and then to present a set of working hypotheses that will allow a further revision of Prokofiev’s image and, as well, of Soviet society under Stalin.
