Imágenes y realidades múltiples: Reflexiones en torno a Adoration

Abstract

Adoration, película realizada en el 2008 por el cineasta canadiense Atom Egoyan, presenta una de sus marcas autorales: la tecnología visual mediando nuestras relaciones sociales. En esta oportunidad, Egoyan actualiza el tema tomando las nuevas formas de registro de imágenes como también su difusión vía internet. En ese sentido, en esta película las salas de chat ocupan un lugar primordial para la historia que Adoration presenta. A partir del uso de las imágenes y las salas de chat que esta película muestra, el presente artículo se propone investigar, a partir del sociólogo Alfred Schutz, en las relaciones sociales que se establecen a partir de las imágenes digitales. Para tal fin, se indagará la película a partir de la noción de identidad, realidades múltiples, intersubjetividad e imaginación, dando lugar a pensar y discutir las nuevas formas de encuentro social que las nuevas tecnologías permiten.

Adoration, film made in 2008 by the Canadian filmmaker Atom Egoyan, presents one of his authorial marks: the visual technology mediating our social relations. This time, Egoyan updates the issue taking the new forms of image registration as well as their dissemination through the Internet. In that sense, in this film the chat rooms occupy a prominent place in the history that Adoration unfolds. Through the use of images and chat rooms that this film shows, the present article aims to explore, with the sociologist Alfred Schutz as theoretical framework, into the social relations that are established from digital images. To this objective, we’ll explore this film from the concepts of identity, multiple realities, intersubjectivity and imagination, leading them to think and discuss the new forms of social encounter that the new technologies allow.
