Un paraíso natural de plantas y paisajes

Abstract

«Iberá» significa ‘aguas brillantes’ en idioma guaraní. Hoy sabemos que esas aguas brillantes son el corazón de la provincia de Corrientes; los Esteros del Iberá constituyen uno de los humedales más importantes del planeta. Este ecosistema único, con sus vastas extensiones de agua dulce, islas flotantes y una biodiversidad exuberante, es un testimonio viviente de la potencia de la naturaleza y su capacidad de renovación. Sabemos esto porque hace más de 40 años científicos y científicas de nuestra universidad, y de otros lugares, investigan para conocer, describir y comprender la complejidad de ese ecosistema.

“Iberá” means “shining waters” in the Guarani language. Today, we recognize that these shining waters are the heart of the province of Corrientes. The Iberá Wetlands are among the most important wetlands on the planet. This unique ecosystem, with its vast stretches of freshwater, floating islands, and rich biodiversity, stands as living proof of nature’s power and its capacity for renewal. This understanding comes from 40 years of research by scientists from our university and beyond, who have worked to explore, describe, and understand the complexity of this ecosystem.
