Deep eutectic and natural deep eutectic solvent in sample preparation

Abstract

In recent years, environmental protection, human health, and safety have become focal points in analytical chemistry. Green Analytical Chemistry (GAC) seeks to align analytical processes with sustainable development goals, challenging chemists to design methods that are both effective and environmentally friendly. This chapter explores the role of Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES) and Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents (NADES) for the improvement of sample preparation techniques. With the focus on extraction methods, this chapter aims to highlight how these green solvents can reduce chemical consumption, enhance sustainability and analytical performance, exploring the way for future advancements in the field.
