The postharvest quality of agricultural products is influenced by various factors, including pre-harvest physiological disorders, pathogen incidence, genetic factors, and handling practices. Postharvest research aims to reduce losses, maintain quality, and expand markets by understanding these factors and developing better technologies. The methods to preserve products in postharvest are broadly categorized into chemical and physical methods. Among physical methods, radiation is widely used. The electromagnetic spectrum (ES), which includes gamma rays, X-rays, ultraviolet (UV), visible light, and infrared (IR), offers various applications in postharvest technology. In summary, postharvest quality can be significantly improved through the strategic application of various forms of radiation, tailored to the specific needs of different plant products.
