El patrimonio conservero del barrio Puerto de Mar del Plata: Problemas y potencialidades desde una valoración socio-productiva y tipológica

Abstract

El tratamiento del patrimonio industrial portuario constituye una problemática que emerge enlas últimas décadas del siglo XX a partir de las reestructuraciones producidas en los puertos y las asociadas transformaciones de sus entornos. En este sentido, el barrio Puerto de la ciudad de Mar del Plata —Argentina— resulta significativo. En particular interesa lo acontecido con el desarrollo de la industria de la conserva de pescado, en apogeo entre los años 1930 y 1960, ya que potenció un singular despliegue fabril que todavía pervive en diferentes escalas y estados. Esta herencia es la que se valora, desde los procesos socio-productivos y su condición tipológica asociada, con el fin de analizar problemas y potencialidades que permitan encauzar acciones apropiadas para su preservación. Para ello se trabaja desde un enfoque cualitativo, mediante archivos escritos, planimétricos y fotográficos, junto con relevamientos in situ y testimonios de entrevistas a actores clave.

The treatment of port industrial heritage constitutes a problem that emerges in the last decades of the twentieth century from the restructurings produced in the ports and the associated transformations of their environments. In this sense, the Puerto neighborhood of the city of Mar del Plata —Argentina— is significant. Of particular interest is what happened with the development of the fish canning industry, in its heyday between the 1930s and 1960s, since it promoted a unique manufacturing deployment that still survives in different scales and states. This heritage is the one that is valued, from the socio-productive processes and its associated typological condition, in order to analyze problems and potentialities that allow channeling appropriate actions for its preservation. To do this, we work from a qualitative approach through written, planimetric and photographic archives, together with on-site surveys and testimonials of interviews with key actors.
