Internationalization, understood from its etymology and dictionary definitions (internationalize + -tion), refers to the act, effect or result of becoming international. In turn, the international term (inter- + national), when used as an adjective, expresses the idea of relationship between nations or what matters, involves, resonates, impacts or extends to several nations. This social and human practice, intrinsically interactional in nature, is not restricted to education, and carries with it the complement that characterizes it. Therefore, to address the internationalization of education it is also necessary to discuss the meanings and purposes, also of education.
