Vegetation

The continental portion of Argentina has almost 4000 km from North to South and an area of almost 2.800.000 km2. It is divided into 16 ecoregions characterized by their geology and geomorphology and 115 ecosystem complexes delimited by the types of landscapes and vegetation. To simplify the descriptions of such varied vegetation types, we have diveded the continental territory into four regions according to the general relief. In this chapter we provide a description of the essencial characteristics of the vegetation of each of the four regions.
