Emotions and Pandemic: A Sociological View of Social Sensibilities

Abstract

Here we propose to explore the emotions experienced by people living in Europe concerning the pandemic based on a quantitative strategy. For this, (a), emotions are sociologically defined; (b), the elaborated investigation strategy is then developed (an exploratory, non-probabilistic design, based on a self-administered questionnaire, distributed via 'snowball' sampling in 17 countries); and interpretations are developed about the main variables: emotions, experience, age groups and gender. Finally, (c) some conclusions are presented that link the aforementioned emotions with a politics of sensibilities, seen as a relevant component of the global structuration processes of societies in the context of the pandemic.
