El libro Chilidúǵu, publicado en 1777, es una gramática del mapudungun al latín que incluye también un diario de viaje del autor de 1752 desde el centro de Chile al noroeste del Neuquén y suroeste de Mendoza, Argentina. Bernhard Havestadt ingresó al país luego de visitar el volcán Antuco, atravesó el río Neuquén hacia el norte, hasta el volcán Tromen, pasó por la Puntilla de Huincán, cruzó el río Grande, llegó a Malargüe, fue hacia el oeste, aguas arriba del río Salado, volvió hacia el sur, hasta el río Barrancas, después siguió por el río Varvarco y pasó al río Neuquén para alcanzar el límite internacional cerca de las nacientes de este curso. El Chilidúǵu es una de las primeras descripciones detalladas de la región.

The book Chilidúǵu, published in 1777, is a Latin-Mapudungun grammar that also includes an author’s travelogue of 1752 from central Chile to northwest Neuquén and southwest Mendoza, Argentina. Bernhard Havestadt entered to our country after visiting the Antuco volcano, traversed the river Neuquén northward to the Tromen volcano, passed by the Puntilla de Huincán, crossed the river Grande, arrived to Malargüe, went westward upstream the river Salado, returned to the south, to the river Barrancas, then followed the river Varvarco, and passed to the river Neuquén to attain the international border near the sources of this stream. The Chilidúǵu is one of the first detailed descriptions of the region.
