La herencia herética: Historia y temporalidades múltiples en Althusser y Rancière

Abstract

En el presente artículo proponemos examinar el vínculo de Rancière con Althusser a partir del problema de la historia y del tiempo histórico. La hipótesis central que moviliza el escrito es que en este terreno difícilmente pueda hablarse de una lisa y llana ruptura, sino más bien de ciertas herencias, huellas y trazos comunes, como también de rechazos, herejías y reinscripciones. En nuestra argumentación buscaremos mostrar que el legado althusseriano se juega en dos puntos importantes del trabajo que Rancière realiza con la historia: en el rechazo a una concepción continua y progresiva de la historia marcada por un tiempo homogéneo y en la correlativa apuesta por pensar una historia materialista que contemple la coexistencia de temporalidades heterogéneas que se traman en un presente no-contemporáneo. Una vez clarificado este legado, será preciso intentar responder por qué Rancière considera que ha sido más fiel que Althusser a esta apuesta y concluir esbozando algunos desplazamientos en torno a cómo opera la pluritemporalidad histórica en ambos programas de investigación.

In this article, we propose to examine Rancière’s link with Althusser starting from the issue of history and historical time. Our central hypothesis is that it is difficult to speak of a simple and plain rupture in this field instead of certain inheritances, traces, common traits, rejections, heresies, and reinscriptions. In our argument, we will seek to show that the Althusserian legacy is at stake in two essential points of Rancière’s work with history: in the rejection of a continuous and progressive conception of history marked by a homogeneous time and in the correlative commitment to think a materialist history that contemplates the coexistence of heterogeneous temporalities plotted in a noncontemporary present. Once we clarify this legacy, it will be necessary to try to answer why Rancière considers that he has been more faithful than Althusser to this wager and to conclude by outlining some shifts in how historical pluritemporality operates in both research programs.
