Sobre la libertad hoy: Neoautoritarismo y neoliberalismo a la luz de la pandemia

Abstract

La pandemia de la Covid-19 ha dado lugar a una crisis no solo sanitaria sino también de la cultura política. Es esta última la que se expresa, entre otras formas, en las manifestaciones que, en nombre de la libertad, se oponen a las diversas medidas sanitarias. A la luz de este fenómeno, el presente trabajo tiene uno de sus objetivos en estudiar la categoría de “libertad”, específicamente, su uso por parte tanto del ethos neoliberal (primera sección), como del neoautoritario (segunda sección). Pues, según aquí se sostiene, dicho uso subyace a esas manifestaciones, a la vez que adquiere una creciente centralidad en la actual cultura política. Frente a esto, el otro objetivo del presente trabajo (desarrollado en la tercera sección) consiste en proponer una percepción alternativa de la libertad, una que aspira a ser inútil para los fines de ambos ethos antidemocráticos.

The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a crisis not only in health but also in political culture. It is the latter that is expressed, among other ways, in the demonstrations that, in the name of freedom, oppose to various health measures. In light of this phenomenon, one of the objectives of this paper is to study the category of “freedom”, specifically, its use by both the neoliberal ethos (first section), and the neo-authoritarian ethos (second section). The argument of the paper is that this use underlies those manifestations, while acquiring a growing protagonism in the current political culture. In this context, the other objective of the present work (developed in the third section) is to propose an alternative perception of freedom, one that aspires to be useless for the goals of both anti-democratic ethos.
