'Esa mujer secreta': Poesía y representación femenina en la obra de Carmen Martín Gaite

Abstract

La obra poética de Carmen Martín Gaite, escrita mayoritariamente durante la posguerra, pero publicada por primera vez en 1976 bajo el título de A rachas, ha sido poco estudiada y ha pasado bastante desapercibida entre críticos y lectores, a diferencia de su obra narrativa o ensayística. Este trabajo propone un acercamiento a su poesía, un género que revela un tono y talante muy personal, que se vincula claramente, a través de lazos diversos y múltiples, con el resto de su producción. En nuestro caso, veremos que las matrices de sentido que atraviesan su poesía en relación con la representación de la mujer se hallan conectadas con su narrativa y sobre todo con sus ensayos, como Usos amorosos de la postguerra española y Desde la ventana. En particular, las reflexiones e interrogaciones respecto de las características distintas de una escritura femenina, la noción de “mujer ventanera” y el símbolo de la ventana, la relación madre-hija, entre otros, constituyen ejes de análisis que traslucen una fuerte interrelación y coherencia en su producción, por un lado, y a la vez exponen una mirada de gran originalidad en el marco de la escritura poética femenina de la segunda mitad del siglo XX.

This work proposes an approach to the poetry of Carmen Martín Gaite, written mainly during the Postwar period, but published for the first time in 1976 under the title of A rachas. Her poetic work reveals a very personal tone, which is clearly linked, through diverse ties, with the rest of his production. The connection between the different faces of the author's work is an issue that most of her critics have highlighted. In our case, we will see that the matrix of meaning that run through her poetry in relation to the representation of women, in particular, are connected with h narrative and especially with essays, such as Usos amorosos de la postguerra española and Desde la ventana. Enfoque femenino de la literatura española. In particular, the reflections and questions regarding the different characteristics of a feminine writing, the notion of "ventanera" and the symbol of the window, the mother-daughter relationship, among others, constitute axes of 2 thought and analysis that reveal a strong interrelation and coherence in their production. At the same time, they expose a perspective of great originality within the framework of female poetic writing of the second half of the 20th Century.
