Experiencias transatlánticas: Formación europea y práctica rioplatense de los ingenieros militares en la frontera bonaerense, siglo XIX

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar al grupo de ingenieros militares que se dedicaron a la construcción de fortificaciones entre finales del siglo XVIII y últimas décadas del XIX, con el fin de consolidar la frontera sur rioplatense. Lo que se observa es que, si bien hay una continuidad respecto a la política de construcción de una línea defensiva entre colonia e independencia, lo que cambia es el perfil y la procedencia de los ingenieros. En este sentido, nos interesa analizar su formación y cómo aplican sus conocimientos europeos a la realidad sudamericana.

The objective of this work is to analyze the group of military engineers who dedicated themselves to the construction of fortifications between the end of the 18th century and the last decades of the 19th, in order to consolidate the southern River Plate border. What is observed is that, although there is a continuity regarding the policy of building a colony and independence defensive line, what changes is the profile and origin of the engineers. In this sense, we are interested in analyzing their training and how they apply their European knowledge to the South American reality
