Monografías sonoras: El podcast como herramienta educativa en ciencias naturales

Abstract

La pandemia demostró desafíos en múltiples aspectos de nuestra vida cotidiana y la educación no ha escapado a esta circunstancia. La articulación entre la asignatura Salud Pública y Ambiente con el Proyecto de Extensión Universitaria “Habitar con Salud”, permitió abordar distintas temáticas propuestas desde un anclaje territorial. Dado que son muy relevantes para la coyuntura actual, existe un enorme volumen de material de consulta, siendo un desafío su correcta identificación y clasificación. Las tecnologías digitales actuales abren un amplio abanico de herramientas para usaren el aula y ampliarla más allá de sus paredes, y los podcast son una de ellas. Así, durante el Segundo Cuatrimestre del año 2020, decidimos convertir los trabajos finales en capítulos del Podcast “Una Especie De Ciencia”, trascendiendo el espacio del aula virtual con nuestras lecturas y reflexiones. El conocimiento científico, como actividad social que es, hecho por y para las personas, debe salir del ámbito académico. La comunicación pública de la ciencia permite tomar decisiones con fundamentos hacia el desarrollo de una mejor sociedad. Sobre ello, temáticas tan vigentes como las relacionadas a la salud y el ambiente no pueden esperar ni ser relegadas a un segundo plano: deben ponerse en agenda, y el podcast es una herramienta que permite hacerlo abriendo las fronteras, recreando el conocimiento científico de forma que todos y todas puedan acceder. Así, aprendiendo y, por qué no, jugando, hemos construido de forma colectiva una herramienta que ha logrado extender un puente entre la educación, la evaluación y la comunicación de la ciencia y la tecnología.

The COVID-19 pandemic displayed several challenges in different ways of our everyday life and education did not escape to this circumstance. The articulation between the course “Public Health and Environment” and the University Extension Project “Habitar con Salud” allowed the approach of different topics of interest from a territorial anchoring. Given that those topics are very relevant for the current conjuncture and there is an enormous volume of reference material, the challenge is to identify and classify them correctly. Current digital technologies such as podcasts open a wide spectrum of tools to use in the classroom and beyond their walls. Thus, during the second semester of 2020 we decided to transform the conventional monographs into podcasts episodes of “Una Especie de Ciencia”, expanding the virtual classroom space with collective readings and reflections. The scientific knowledge as social activity, for and by people must get out of the academic environment. The public understanding of science allows to take decisions based on the foundation towards the development of a better society. In fact, some topics as health and environment cannot wait nor be postponed: they must be in agenda and podcasts are tools that allow that, opening frontiers, recreating the scientific knowledge in a way that all can access. That is how we have been learning and why not playing, during the development of a collective tool that was able to build a brigde between education, evaluation and public communication of science and technology
