Justicia, trabajo, identidad y exclusión: ¿Hacia una nueva teoría crítica o hacia una nueva crítica a la teoría?

Abstract

El objetivo de esta presentación es exponer los resultados preliminares de una investigación teórica encaminada a analizar los aportes que la llamada nueva teoría crítica realiza al estudio de la justicia, del trabajo, de la identidad, y de las diferentes formas de exclusión social. Acudiendo a una perspectiva dialógica para revelar el proceso de construcción de teoría sociológica, se intentan comparar las distintas orientaciones vinculadas con la teoría del reconocimiento, en especial, la de Alex Honneth y las de quienes, desde variadas disciplinas, se aproximan a esta postura, sea para complementarla, sea para modificarla, sea para criticarla, sea para elaborar una contribución enfrentada y/o alternativa. De modo tal, se exhiben, en primer lugar, las características más relevantes de la perspectiva de este autor y se considera el lugar que se le acuerda al trabajo en ella para, después, mostrar la manera en la que éste aparece vinculado con los metarrelatos. Seguidamente, se recorren diversas propuestas que abordan la necesidad de unir el reconocimiento de la igualdad al de la diferencia, dando cuenta, además, de cómo el análisis de los disímiles enfoques conduce al cuestionamiento de: a. las formas de concebir al trabajo, y b. los recursos tanto teóricos y epistemológicos cuanto metodológicos a los que, habitualmente, se apela para definir la identidad y para interpretar el sentido de las luchas en defensa de la dignidad.

The objective of this presentation is to expound the preliminary results of theoretical research directed at analyzing the contributions the ¨new critical theory¨ makes to the study of justice, work, identity and the different forms of social exclusion. Employing a dialogic perspective in order to reveal the process of the construction of the social theory, I intend to compare the different orientations connected to the theory of recognition, in particular that of Alex Honneth and those of other authors in various disciplines who approach Honneth´s theory in order to compliment it, modify it, criticize it, or make an opposite and/or alternative contribution. In this way I will first, show the characteristics most relevant to the perspective of this author, consider the place he gives to work in his theory and analyze the way in which work appears related to the meta-narratives. Second, I will go through different contributions that assume the need to unite the recognition of equality with the recognition of difference, showing also how the analysis of the distinct approaches leads to the questioning of: a. the ways in which work is conceived, b. the theoretical, epistemological, and methodological recourses that researchers habitually employ to define identity and to interpret the sense of the fight in the defense of dignity.
