La sociogénesis de las representaciones sociales de la justicia en la prensa escrita argentina

Abstract

Investigaciones realizadas en diferentes contextos socio-políticos muestran que los ciudadanos tienen poca confianza en las instituciones políticas (e.g. gobierno). Específicamente en Argentina, el poder judicial presenta el menor nivel de adhesión. En este contexto, el objetivo de este estudio consistió en comparar las representaciones sociales de la justicia cuya difusión es realizada por el diario de mayor circulación de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires (desde octubre del 2019 a enero del 2020) con las identificadas en un estudio, también efectuado en el mismo periódico en el período abril a junio de 2011. Para ello, se analizó el significado y la frecuencia de aparición del término justicia en sus ediciones del día domingo (N=12). Los resultados obtenidos pusieron de manifiesto que el término justicia es utilizado con mayor frecuencia en referencia a la institución judicial, es decir, a los tribunales que sancionan y median en los conflictos sociales. Se concluye que, la representación difundida tendría un sentido retributivo en el que la justicia es entendida como la administración de castigos y compensaciones para restaurar la igualdad ante hechos injustos. Si bien los estudios comparados fueron realizados en distintos contextos socio-políticos, los sentidos de la justicia resultan análogos.

Studies in different socio-political contexts show that citizens have little trust in political institutions (e.g. government). Specifically in Argentina, the Judicial Power has the lowest level of support. In this context, the aim of this paper was to compare the social representations of justice diffused by the press in the most important newspaper in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (from October 2019 to January 2020) with those identified in a study also carried out in the same newspaper in the period April to June 2011. For this purpose, was analysed the meaning and frequency of occurrence of the word justice in the Sunday editions (N=12). The results showed that the word justice is most frequently used in reference to the judicial institution, that is, the courts that sanction and mediate social conflicts. It is concluded that the diffusion of social representations would have a retributive sense in which justice is understood as the administration of punishments and compensations to restore equality for unjust deeds. Although the comparative studies were carried out in different socio-political contexts, the meanings of justice are similar.
