Actores jugando con tÍteres: El trabajo profesional (y popular) de Héctor y Eduardo Di Mauro

Abstract

En este trabajo nos proponemos recuperar la trayectoria de los hermanos titiriteros Héctor y Eduardo Di Mauro, atendiendo especialmente a sus reflexiones en torno a la profesionalización del trabajo artístico así como también al fundamento político en el que se basó y que resulta inseparable de la búsqueda de un arte popular y latinoamericano. Su experiencia estuvo fuertemente vinculada al ámbito educativo, no solo por haber brindado funciones en distintos establecimientos escolares, sino también por el lugar que la escuela ocupó en su educación artística. El vínculo con esta institución revistió además un elemento fundamental: la formación de nuevos artistas. Todos estos elementos marcarían su modo de hacer títeres. A partir de las andanzas de los Di Mauro, aquí nos proponemos recuperar una parte de la historia del teatro de títeres del siglo XX, capítulo aún pendiente en la historia cultural argentina.

In this work we aim to recover Héctor and Eduardo Di Mauro’s professional career, focusing on their reflections on a professional artistic work as well as its political foundation, both inseparable from their quest for a popular and a Latin American art. Their experience was linked to the educational field, not only for having performed in schools, but also for the importance that these institutions had in their artistic formation. The importance of school also involved a fundamental feature: training new artists. All of these would mark their puppetry. Through the Di Mauro brothers adventures, we aim to recover a part of 20th century puppet theatre history, a pending chapter in Argentine cultural history.
