“Haciendo padres”: Entre listas y registros. De la discrecionalidad a la elección profesionalizada

Abstract

En la Argentina, la creación en el año 2005 de un Registro Único de Adoptantes ha sido fundamentada en la necesidad de transparentar la adopción de niños y limitar la discrecionalidad de la que gozaban los jueces para elegir a los potenciales adoptantes. En este artículo se contextualiza la creación de este Registro para comprender los sentidos con los que es dotado y las características que en nuestro contexto ha adquirido el proceso de “sanitarización” de la adopción. A su vez, se analizan las acciones que desarrollan sus profesionales en pos de evaluar a los futuros adoptantes así como de transmitir una determinada moralidad familiar que, integrando tópicos como el “derecho a la identidad” de los niños y el respeto por su historia, y privilegiando la actitud reflexiva de quienes quieren adoptar un niño, contribuye a recrear y/o reificar modos de identificación práctica y simbólica de la “clase media urbana”.

In 2005, the creation in Argentina of the Unique Registry of Adopters was grounded on the need to make the adoption of children more transparent and to limit the discretionality that judges enjoyed to select potential adopters. In this article, we contextualize the creation of the mentioned Registry to understand the senses with which it is endowed and the features that the “sanitization” of the adoption process has acquired in our context. At the same time, we analyze the actions developed by its professionals aimed at evaluating future adopters, as well as at transmitting a certain family morality that – by integrating topics such as the children’s “right to identity” and the respect for their history, and by privileging the reflexive attitude of those who wish to adopt a child – contributes to recreate and/or reify ways of practical and symbolic identification of the “urban middle class”.
