La influencia católica en la educación: el caso del ministro Juan Rafael Llerena Amadeo (1978-1981)

Abstract

En este artículo analizaremos algunos aspectos de la gestión del tercer ministro de educación, Juan Rafael Llerena Amadeo (1978- 1981), observando cuáles fueron los principales puntos del programa católico que intentó llevar a cabo y las alianzas que estableció con diferentes sectores católicos. De los cinco mandatarios, era el que estaba mejor vinculado con la cúpula de la Iglesia, fue el que más tiempo duró en su puesto y el que recibió un apoyo explícito del variado arco católico. En el primer apartado reconstruiremos su trayectoria pública y sus ideas acerca de la educación. En la segunda sección, veremos los intentos del frente católico de imponer una nueva Ley de Educación; en la tercera, identificaremos las polémicas que se dieron alrededor de la propuesta de implementar la enseñanza católica en las escuelas públicas y la nueva materia del secundario, «Formación Moral y Cívica». Por último, caracterizaremos la relación que mantuvo con los integristas del Opus Dei, que buscaban la expansión de la «pedagogía católica».

In this article will look at some aspects of the management of the third Minister of education, Juan Rafael Llerena Amadeo (1978-1981), noting what were the main points of the Catholic programme which sought to implement, and partnerships established with different Catholic sectors.
