El FMI y la Argentina: los derechos humanos en cuestión

Abstract

El Fondo Monetario Internacional elude responsabilidades en materia de derechos humanos, a pesar de las obligaciones de sus Estados miembros y de formar parte del sistema de la Organización de Naciones Unidas. En su relación histórica con la Argentina, los resultados no han sido positivos. El artículo repasa dicha historia y analiza el acuerdo Stand By de 2018, su renegociación y efectos. El argumento presentando es que, a través del acuerdo, el organismo ha sido partícipe de una situación reñida con la realización de los derechos humanos en la Argentina.The International Monetary Fund shirks its human rights responsibilities, despite the obligations of its member states and despite being part of the United Nations system. In its historical relationship with Argentina, the results have not been positive. The article reviews this history and analyses the 2018 Stand By agreement, its renegotiation and effects. The argument presented is that, through the agreement, the organisation has been an active participant in a situation that is at odds with the realisation of human rights in Argentina.
