Vínculos entre la geografía, el arte y la era digital

Abstract

El objetivo del artículo es realizar un análisis de las relaciones que existieron entre catástrofe climática generada por la megaerupción del volcán Tambora en 1815 y la producción artística de la época. Se analizaron los cambios ambientales producidos en el continente europeo entre los años 1816 y 1818 a partir de un análisis exhaustivo y crítico de bibliografía editada en papel y en soporte digital mediante un Sondeo Histórico Digital (SHD) utilizando Internet y las redes sociales. Se reflexionó sobre la Pequeña Edad de Hielo, las dos megaerupciones volcánicas del Laki (1783) y del Tambora (1815) y la producción de escritores, poetas y pintores en medio del desastre. Los resultados más destacados son el surgimiento de la novela gótica de terror, las pinturas de paisajistas famosos e invenciones para sobrellevar la crisis. Sus consecuencias aún se reflejan en la cultura actual a través de la ciencia ficción, al arte pop y la cibernética.

The aim of the article is an analysis of the relationships that existed between climate catastrophe, generated by the megaeruption of the Tambora volcano in 1815 and the artistic production of the period. Authors analyses the environmental changes produced in Europe between the years 1816 and 1818 thorough a critical analysis of scientific literature published on paper and in digital format through a Digital Historical Survey (DHS) using Internet and social networks. He reflected on the little ice age, the two volcanic megaerupciones Laki (1783) and the Tambora (1815) and the production of writers, poets and painters in the midst of the disaster. The most outstanding results are the emergence of the gothic horror novel, the paintings by famous landscape and inventions to cope with the crisis. Its consequences are still reflected in today's culture through science fiction, pop art and cybernetics.
