Un pasado a imagen y semejanza: Recuperación y negación de los testimonios maricas en la constitución de la memoria gay

Abstract

Luego de la sanción de las leyes de matrimonio igualitario (2010) y de identidad de género (2012), en Argentina una gran variedad de productos narrativos sobre el pasado homosexual copó la escena cultural. Sin embargo, estas narraciones tienen severas dificultades para dar cuenta del testimonio de sus protagonistas: las maricas y los homosexuales ancianos que vivieron en las décadas del sesenta y setenta en un mundo en el cual el modo de entender el deseo sexual entre varones era en extremo diferente del actual.Este trabajo se propone analizar en qué medida los cambios en las subjetividades homosexuales de las últimas décadas, así como las actuales construcciones memoriales del movimiento LGBT, se constituyen en obstáculos para la emergencia de los testimonios de las viejas maricas. En la primera parte, presentaré las discontinuidades entre las experiencias maricas de antaño y los modos de vida gay contemporáneos, explicando en qué medida estos últimos se produjeron demarcando a las primeras como su exterior constitutivo. En la segunda parte, analizaré las actuales políticas de la memoria del movimiento y del campo intelectual gay para indagar los modos en los que estas devienen obstáculos para la emergencia de la memoria marica.

After the congress passed same-sex marriage (2010) and the gender identity law (2012) in Argentina, a great variety of scripts about the history of homosexuals in the country flooded the cultural scene. Despite visibilizing lives that had previously not had a voice, these narratives hardly expressed the actual testimony of their protagonists: the maricas (fairies) and the elder homosexuals who lived in the sixties and seventies. They had lived in a world where sexual desire between males was completely different to the current one, and for the most part the historical difference has been erased.This paper aims to analyze the historical changes in homosexual identity during the last decades to show how the recent constructions of memory by the LGBT movement have become obstacles for the emergence of testimonies by the maricas. In the first part I will present the discontinuities between the experiences of the old maricas and the way of life of contemporary gays, explaining the degree in which the latter fashioned themselves in opposition of the old maricas as their opposite. In the second part I will analyze how recent government policies, the politics of intellectual gay circles, and the LGBT movement in regards to historical memory, have become obstacles for the emergence of marica memory.
