Intervenciones en el campo de la memoria: De perlas y cicatrices de Pedro Lemebel

Abstract

Las crónicas reunidas en De perlas y cicatrices se ocupan de llevar a cabo un juicio al menos simbólico y una condena pública a los perpetradores y cómplices de los crímenes contra la ciudadanía cometidos por las fuerzas de seguridad durante la dictadura pinochetista. Ante el gesto oficial de resignar la búsqueda de justicia y de propiciar una forzada reconciliación social mediante la promoción del olvido y la ideología del consumo, la voz de Lemebel busca romper el silencio e instalar una ética de la memoria. Las varias secciones que conforman el libro muestran los diferentes aspectos del proceso social, cultural, económico y político que comienza en Chile el 11 de septiembre de 1973 con la represión dictatorial y que continúa luego con la imposición del modelo económico neoliberal que, bajo el ropaje de la utopía globalizadora, agudizó desigualdades y exclusiones.

The chronicles collected in De perlas y cicatrices are concerned with carrying out at least a symbolic trial and a public condemnation of the perpetrators and accomplices of the crimes against citizens committed by the security forces during the Pinochet dictatorship. Before the official gesture of resigning the search for justice and promoting a forced social reconciliation through the promotion of forgetfulness and the ideology of consumption, Lemebel’s voice seeks to break the silence and install an ethic of memory. The various sections that make up the book show the different aspects of the social, cultural, economic and political process that begins in Chile on September 11, 1973 with dictatorial repression and that continues with the imposition of the neoliberal economic model that, under the guise of the globalizing utopia, sharpened inequalities and exclusions.
