Hacer la vida en pandemia: Una reflexión sobre fotografías de cosas, plantas, animales e hijos

Abstract

Durante los primeros meses de 2020 el Aislamiento Social Preventivo y Obligatorio (ASPO) en respuesta a la pandemia de COVID-19 tuvo en Argentina una aceptación generalizada que redujo la movilidad urbana. En un estudio de campo sobre experiencias de tiempo y espacio en cuarentena en La Plata pedimos a las personas entrevistadas que tomaran fotografías. Estas fotos mostraron insistentemente ciertas actividades y modos de realizarlas. A partir de ellas recuperamos la crítica de Ingold a la concepción occidental dominante del hacer y proponemos dos hipótesis interpretativas: 1) la concepción occidental dominante no moldea todas las dimensiones y formas de hacer, 2) las formas de hacer que escapan al empirismo científico e industrial habrían encontrado un campo propicio en esta reclusión doméstica.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, in March 2020 there was decreed a Preventive and Compulsory Social Isolation Phase (ASPO) in Argentina. Their wide acceptance reduced urban mobility. In a field study on experiences of time and space in quarantine in La Plata, we asked the interviewees to take photographs. These photos insistently showed certain activities and ways to carry them out. Based on them, we recover Ingold’s critique of the dominant Western conception of making and propose two interpretative hypotheses: 1) the dominant Western conception does not shape all the dimensions and ways of making things, 2) the ways of making that do not conform to scientific and industrial empiricism would have found a propitious field in that domestic confinement.
