El conflicto de las camareras del ferrocarril Mitre: tensiones en el mundo del trabajo ferroviario en contextos de reestructuración y modernización (Argentina, 1962-1964)

Abstract

Este artículo explora las profundas tensiones acontecidas en el mundo del trabajo ferroviario en contextos de la reestructuración que atravesaba la actividad, a inicios de los años sesenta. Para ello, se describe el devenir de un conflicto suscitado a partir de la incorporación de un plantel femenino para realizar tareas de camareras en los servicios especiales de pasajeros de larga distancia. A pesar de su frustrado final, el problema que supuso la implantación del servicio de camareras permite indagar las nociones sobre el trabajo en el ferrocarril –entrelazadas en definiciones sobre el género– junto con las tensiones asociadas al problema de la modernización ferroviaria. Con una metodología cualitativa, centrada en el análisis documental de fuentes escritas, se abordarán actas sindicales, documentos empresariales y prensa gremial y comercial. El período abordado en este estudio (1962- 1964) refiere a la etapa comprendida entre la creación del servicio de camareras y su posterior ocaso, como consecuencia del conflicto desatado entre los diferentes actores involucrados.

This article explores the deep strains on the world of the railway labor on the context of the restructuring that the field of railway activity went through, at the beginning of the sixties. To do so, it describes the development of a conflict generated since the incorporation of a female waitresses staff for the long-distance passenger trains. In spite of its un success fulending, the problem generated because of the waitresses allows for analyzing notions about railway work –interlaced with gender definitions- and tensions asociated with the problem of the railway modernization. Based on a qualitative methodology, focused on the documentary analysis of written sources, trade union proceedings, company documents and press will be addressed. The period addressed in this study (1962-1964) refers to the stage between the creation of the waitress service and its subsequent decline, as a result of the conflict between the different actors involved.
