"El turismo como excusa": La (re)articulación del territorio a través del turismo rural comunitario en los Valles Calchaquíes de Salta (Argentina)

Abstract

En el sur de los Valles Calchaquíes de la provincia de Salta, han surgido recientemente modalidades alternativas de turismo que, como toda práctica social, han generado transformaciones en la dinámica socio-territorial. Interesa en este trabajo analizar las características que adquiere el turismo rural comunitario en esta región de Argentina. Específicamente se abordará el caso de la Red de Turismo Campesino (RTC), cuya gestión comunitaria se presenta como una alternativa al desarrollo y, consecuentemente, genera una (re)articulación de las familias campesinas, aquellas que el sistema había excluido. Particularmente, se analizarán las representaciones que poseen los campesinos respecto al “turismo como excusa”, en relación al mercado del trabajo y el mejoramiento de las condiciones de vida. Asimismo, interesa abordar cómo el territorio se revaloriza turísticamente y cómo este nuevo actor social lo promueve, resignificando las prácticas socio-productivas en el espacio rural mencionado.

In the south of the Calchaquíes Valleys of the province of Salta, alternative forms of tourism have recently emerged which, like all social practices, have generated transformations in the socioterritorial dynamics. It is interesting in this work to analyze the characteristics that rural community tourism acquires in this region of Argentina. Specifically, the case of the Rural Tourism Farmer (RTC) will be addressed, whose community management is presented as an alternative to development and, consequently, generates a (re) articulation of rural families, those that the system had excluded. In particular, the representations that peasants have regarding “tourism as an excuse” will be analyzed, in relation to the labor market and the improvement of living conditions. Likewise, it is interesting to address how the territory is revalued in terms of tourism and how this new social actor promotes it, resignifying the socio-productive practices in the aforementioned rural space.
