Versiones sobre el río en las Aguafuertes porteñas de Roberto Arlt

Abstract

La propuesta de este artículo consiste en estudiar cómo dentro del gran corpus de las notas tituladas Aguafuertes porteñas de Roberto Arlt figuran una serie de crónicas dedicadas a la costa del Río de la Plata. Para ello, se observará la manera en que las imágenes fluviales que el cronista configura en sus textos responden a dos tipos de modulaciones diferentes sobre el espacio que, por momentos, se cruzan: el río pintoresco y el río asociado al mundo del trabajo portuario. Se estudiarán, entonces, estas dos miradas sobre la ribera y se analizará cómo estos paisajes costeros dialogan con la obra de dos de los artistas de la época que insertaron al Río de la Plata como protagonista de sus producciones y que, además, figuran mencionados explícitamente en la obra de Arlt: Raúl González Tuñón y Benito Quinquela Martín.

The proposal of this article is to study how in the big corpus of the notes titled Aguafuertes porteñas by Roberto Arlt there appears a series of chronicles dedicated to the coast of the River Río de la Plata. To do this, we will observe the way in which the images of the river that the chronicler configures in his texts respond to two different types of modulations of space that, at times, intersect: the picturesque river and the river associated with the world of harbor work. We will study these two views on the riverbank and analyze how these coastal landscapes interact with the work of two of the artists of the time who inserted the Río de la Plata as the protagonist of their productions and which are also mentioned explicitly in the work of Arlt: Raúl González Tuñón and Benito Quinquela Martín.
