Multivariate design of experiments (DOE) and optimization of processes through thewell-known response surface methodology (RSM) are issues of paramount importancein real world applications considering that its implementation consumes less time andrequires fewer efforts and resources than the use of univariate procedures for the samepurpose. DOE and RSM applications enable the gathering of quality information and atthe same time they allow the number of experiments to be considerably minimized [1],and they have been proved to be useful for developing, improving, and optimizing a widevariety of processes [2] including food production [3?6], analytical applications [7?10],industrial world [11?15], and bioprocesses [16?19]
