Autoestima y problemáticas psicosociales en la infancia, adolescencia y juventud

Abstract

Diversos autores observan que la autoestima se construye en el marco del proceso de socialización (Thomas, Gecas, Weigert & Rooney, 1974), en la interacción con diferentes agentes socializadores tales como la familia, los grupos de pares, los medios de comunicación o las instituciones religiosas o educativas, principalmente a lo largo de la Infancia, Adolescencia y Juventud (Oñate, 1989). De acuerdo con Rosenberg (1989) estos agentes imponen al niño un estilo característico de la vida, un conjunto de valores y un sistema de creencias e ideales que, imperceptiblemente, proporcionan las bases para autoevaluarse. El propósito del presente trabajo consiste en revisar la literatura académica en el área relativa al impacto de los agentes de socialización en la formación de la autoestima en la infancia, adolescencia y juventud y las principales problemáticas que se encuentran asociadas en los antecedentes: autoestima y aspecto físico en la infancia y adolescencia, iniciación sexual en la adolescencia, noviazgo y violencia en la adolescencia y juventud, embarazo en la adolescencia y juventud, bullying en la infancia y adolescencia, maltrato en la infancia y adolescencia, trabajo en la Infancia, adolescencia y juventud, desempeño académico en la infancia, adolescencia y juventud, y adicciones en la infancia, adolescencia y juventud. En este contexto se revisa el lugar algunos aspectos culturales en la busqueda constante de la autoestima (Crocker & Park, 2004) y el papel de la autotrascendencia (Cox, 2007) en la formación de la evaluación que las personas hacen de sí mismas.

Several authors have observe that self-esteem is fabricated as part of the socialization process (Thomas, Gecas, Weigert & Rooney, 1974), it‘s interacting with a vast array of socializing agents such as family, peer groups, the media, religious or educational institutes of which develops itself during Childhood and Adolescence (Oñate, 1989). According to Rosenberg (1989) these agents impose the child with a distinctive style of life, set of values and a set of beliefs and ideals, which provides a basis for self-assessment. The purpose of this paper is to review academic literature on impact related to the socialization agents that impact the formation of self-esteem in early childhood, adolescence, youth and review the problems that are associated within these developments. Some of which are self-esteem and physical appearance in childhood and adolescence, sexual initiation in adolescence, courtship and violence in adolescence and youth, teenage pregnancy, bullying in early childhood and adolescence, abuse in childhood and adolescence, labor in early childhood, adolescence and youth, academic achievement in early childhood, adolescence and youth and addictions in early childhood, adolescence and youth. In this regard this literature reviews objective is to revised a few cultural aspects that are in continuous search of self-esteem (Crocker & Park, 2004) and the role of self-transcendence (Cox, 2007)and it‘s formation onto the way people evaluate themselves.
