Reflexiones sobre el giro afectivo en historia queer

Abstract

Este artículo explora el llamado “giro afectivo” en historia queer. A partir del estudio de una selección de textos de Elizabeth Freeman, Carolyn Dinshaw y Heather Love se pretende, por un lado, armar un mapa teórico que dé cuenta de la especificidad de esta nueva forma de aproximarse a la historia de la sexualidad disidente y, por otro lado, identificar algunos de sus aportes principales. Para eso, en primer lugar, se examinan los usos de una serie de figuras y metáforas que aparecen en los textos de estas pensadoras queer para indagar cómo caracterizan el discurso histórico y la relación entre el pasado y el presente. En segundo lugar, se argumenta que la contribución central de este giro afectivo en historia queer es que logra desafiar una serie de dicotomías clásicas de la filosofía de la historia: distancia/cercanía; presencia/ ausencia; identidad/diferencia; sentimientos/pensamientos.

This paper explores the so called “affective turn” in queer history. By engaging in a close reading of selected work by Elizabeth Freeman, Carolyn Dinshaw and Heather Love, it seeks, on the one hand, to give an account of the specificities of this new way to approach the history of dissident sexuality and, on the other hand, to identify some of its key contributions. For this, this paper examines the use of certain figures and metaphors in the work of the aforementioned queer thinkers in order to understand more clearly how they characterize historical discourses and the relation between the past and the present. Secondly, it argues that the main contribution of this affective turn in queer history is that it manages to challenge a set of classic dichotomies in philosophy of history: distance/nearness; presence/absence; identity/difference; feelings/thoughts.
