Una mirada crítica sobre los nativos digitales. Análisis de los usos formales de TIC entre estudiantes universitarios

Abstract

Actualmente la mayoría de estudiantes universitarios son parte de la generación llamada Net Generation. Internet, las computadoras y los teléfonos celulares, entre otros dispositivos, han estado siempre en su vida, y ahora estas tecnologías han llegado a las universidades. ¿Significa esto un uso homogéneo de las TIC por parte de los nativos digitales?. Este artículo pretende profundizar en la identificación de los usos de las TIC realizados por los estudiantes universitarios en los procesos de aprendizaje formales. Para ello, en primer lugar, se describe el término nativos digitales y sus críticas, y posteriormente se detallan las características de la investigación empírica realizada y sus resultados. Finalmente, se analizan e interpretan los resultados recurriendo a los conceptos no sólo de nativos digitales, sino también de alfabetización académica.

Nowadays, the majority of college students are part of the Net Generation. Internet, computers, mobile phones, and many other tools, have always been in their life, and today these technologies have come to the universities. Does this mean that there is homogeneity regarding digital native use of ICT? This article attempts to identify the uses of ICT by university students in the formal learning processes. We describe the digital natives and their reviews, and then the features of the empirical research and its results. Finally, we analyze the results using the concepts as academic literacy and digital natives to extrapolate the results obtained.
