Una revisión de la teoría benjaminiana de la estetización: Sobre la dialéctica entre magia y política

Abstract

El presente estudio teórico se propone revisitar “La obra de arte en la época de su reproductibilidad técnica” (1936) de Walter Benjamin, en primer lugar, a los efectos de señalar su actualidad. En segundo lugar, identificaremos un problema que replica el de un texto anterior dedicado a la dramaturgia brechtiana, “El autor como productor” (1934). Se trata de la extrema confianza depositada en las nuevas invenciones artísticas en tanto signos de una revolución venidera exenta de magia. En tercer lugar, nos abocaremos a analizar la dialéctica entre magia y política en las reflexiones sobre el surrealismo de fines de la década de 1920. Si bien se trata de textos anteriores en el tiempo, en ellos se encuentra una objeción a ciertos mecanismos propios de la estetización neoromántica así como la descripción de la vía posible para una nueva percepción revolucionaria.

The present theoretical study intends to revisit "The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical reproduction" (1936) by Walter Benjamin, in the first place, in order to point out its actuality. Second, we will identify a problem that replicates that of a previous text, "The Author as Producer" (1934). This problem lies in the extreme confidence placed in the new artistic inventions, as signs of a coming revolution, liberated from magic. In the third place, we will analyze the dialectic between magic and politics in the reflections on Surrealism at the end of the 1920s. Even though these are previous texts in time, they constitute an objection to certain mechanisms of the neo-romantic aestheticization as well as the description of a possible way for a new revolutionary perception.
