Una lectura de las relaciones entre Iglesia católica, Estado y educación en 30 años de democracia

Abstract

En este trabajo se analiza el papel de la Iglesia católica argentina en la construcción del sistema educativo desde el regreso a la democracia en 1983. Se indagan las relaciones Iglesia católica-Estado nacional y los posicionamientos discursivos y políticos de esos dos actores institucionales en materia educativa a partir de la lectura de un conjunto de producciones discursivas en el período 1983-2013. Tomando como ejes de análisis el rol del Estado en materia educativa y el papel de la religión en la educación, se identifican tres momentos del lugar de la Iglesia en el sistema educativo nacional: un primer momento de antagonismo (1983-1989), un segundo momento de complementariedad (1989-2002) y un tercer momento de autonomía discursiva (2002-2013). Sintéticamente, se destacan los vínculos entre actores eclesiásticos y estatales por la definición y el gobierno del sistema educativo, así como las reconfiguraciones del sistema educativo, la laicidad y la esfera pública en la Argentina contemporánea.

This paper aims to analyze the role of the Catholic Church in Argentina in the construction of the educational system since the return to democracy in 1983. Specifically, we analyze the Catholic Church-State relations and their discursive and political positionings on education, starting form a reading of a set of discursive productions in the period 1983-2013. Following the State's role and the place for religion in education, we identify three moments of the Catholic Church's role in the national education system: a first moment of antagonism (1983-1989), a second moment of complementarity (1989-2002) and a third moment of discursive autonomy (2002-2013). Briefly, we highlight the links between Church and State actors for the definition and governance of the educational system, as well as the reconfigurations of the educational system, laicity and public sphere in contemporary Argentina.
