Figuras y esencia de la melancolía: una reflexión a partir de S. Kierkegaard

Abstract

El artículo realiza un análisis fenomenológico de la melancolía a partir del pensamiento de S. Kierkegaard. Distingue una figura estética, una religiosa y una metafísica del fenómeno y elucida el significado de cada una y el vínculo existente entre todas ellas. Además analiza en cada figura la experiencia de la ausencia del ser como sentido y del tiempo como presente como esencia de la melancolía. Finalmente determina en qué medida la fe representa una “cura” de la melancolía, pero en qué medida también la irreductibilidad metafísica del fenómeno implica la incerteza de lo absoluto y la ambigüedad de la fe.

The article advances a phenomenological analysis of melancholy on the basis of ideas of S. Kierkegaard. It distinguishes an aesthetic, a religious, and a metaphysical figure of the phenomenon, and attempts to elucidate the meaning of each figure and the relationship holding between all of them. Furthermore, it analyzes in each figure, as the essence of melancholy, the experience of the absence of being as meaning and of time as present. Finally, it outlines the extent in which faith is a “cure” for melancholy, but also the extent in which the metaphysical irreducibility of the phenomenon implies the uncertainty of the Absolute and the ambiguity of faith.
