Food packaging technology is a broad interdisciplinary area that includesraw material selection and processing, packaging design and production,food safety and environmental considerations, and that also takes intoaccount consumer acceptance. All of these issues should be optimized atan affordable cost in view of the food product that the packaging willcontain. Food packaging is mainly required to contain food productsand protect them from their surroundings, avoiding not only contamination, humidity, and oxidation processes, but also the loss of food quality
