Sociedad Interamericana de Psicología: historia y proyección estratégica

Abstract

El presente trabajo analiza la historia y situación actual de la Sociedad Interamericana de Psicología/Interamerican Society of Psychology (SIP). Se plantean tres objetivos fundamentales: 1) examinar la extensa historia de la SIP; 2) reseñar las actividades más importantes realizadas por la SIP; y 3) analizar los desafíos que enfrenta la SIP de cara al futuro según el Plan Estratégico 2016-2026. Para desarrollar estos objetivos se ha realizado una recuperación y análisis de diversas fuentes documentales. Se considera que la SIP deberá renovar una parte importante de su estructura organizacional si pretende seguir teniendo la gravitación que ha plasmado hasta el momento en cuanto al desarrollo profesional y científico de la psicología en las Américas.

The history and current state of the Interamerican Society of Psychology (sip) are analyzed. The article had three aims: 1) to examine sip’s long history, 2) to review the most important activities carried out by sip, and 3) to analyze the challenges that sip is facing in the future, according to the Strategic Plan 2016-2026. In order to develop those aims, several sources and documents are retrieved and analyzed. It is considered that sip should renew an important part of its organizational structure whether it is to maintain the important role that it has had so far concerning the professional and scientific development of psychology in the Americas.
