Negros esclavos y mambises en la Cuba insurgente (1868-1878)

Abstract

Entre los años 1868 y 1878 se lleva a cabo en Cuba la conocida como Guerra de los Diez Año o Guerra Grande. Los objetivos que persigue fueron declarar la independencia de la Isla y la abolición de la esclavitud.Dichas premisas, al interior de las fuerzas insurrectas trajeron aparejadas una serie de inconvenientes. Tanto mambises como negros y esclavos no lograron compatibilizar sus expectativas y en la práctica, aquellos ideales rectores se transformaron en una de las puntas de quiebre del movimiento.Este artículo busca esclarecer el desarrollo de las relaciones entre los actores mencionados entre 1868 y 1878.

Between the years 1868 and 1878, the so-called War of the Ten Years or the Great War took place in Cuba. The objectives that it pursued were to declare the independence of the Island and the abolition of slavery These premises, within the insurgent forces brought a series of drawbacks. Both Mambises as well as blacks and slaves failed to match their expectations and in practice, those guiding ideals became one of the breaking points of the movement.
