This paper intends to discuss the idea of a broken promise of happiness and the image of a liberated humanity possible in two works of Theodor Adorno referred to its projection on the art but not least its relationship to political practice and the role of philosophy, namely: "Theory of New Music" (1949) and "aesthetic Theory" (1970). Work the author's works from the concepts of art, philosophy and political practice, in order to expose the limits of Adorno's negative aesthetics, ranging from the immediacy that philosophy can not return linked to its conceptual language, the truth sustrayéndosele appears in the aesthetic experience, and the absolutely unspeakable and veiled expressing authentic art works. The latter (particularly music) lack an explicit social function, and therein lies the basis of their critical negativity. The experience of happiness that art promises not correspond to political praxis, and only so aporetic and flashing, lonely and isolated from humanity could survive its emancipatory potential in the resignation and departure of all things human. The art world is subtracted identified, of extreme violence in isolation, therefore constitute a broken promise of happiness. The paper is structured as follows: firstly analyze tone music of Arnold Schoenberg in order to determine to what extent retains a degree of autonomy and revolutionary potential, secondly, we show in what sense is compositional practice model for philosophical practice, and what is the role of music and philosophy from this point of view and finally problematizaremos the issue of political praxis in the much debated and controversial author in connection with the previously developed.
